Barbara Ann Corcoran

Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker and syndicated columnist. She is also an TV personality, author and author. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran was one of the first Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals as of February 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a multi-talented worker throughout the years of Corcoran's childhood. The family relied on the food provided by an artisanal local grocery store for free food. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who would drink often and treated her mother with disrespect. Corcoran was a struggle in school and was diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending a Catholic primary school. After flunking several courses during her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School, where she graduated as a D student.
